Executive Summary
REcNU Homestead is a community-driven rural development venture that integrates sustainable tourism, agro-tourism, environmental conservation, and inclusive wellbeing services into a single scalable ecosystem.
Our mission is to transform underutilized rural landscapes into thriving economic hubs where local communities become the primary beneficiaries of tourism and nature-based enterprises.
Bangladesh possesses extraordinary natural assets—forests, rivers, wetlands, coastal villages, traditional agriculture, and rich cultural heritage. However, many of these communities continue to face limited economic opportunities, youth migration, and environmental degradation.
REcNU Homestead addresses these challenges through a sustainable business model that creates income opportunities while protecting local ecosystems and preserving cultural heritage.

The Problem
Rural communities across Bangladesh face several interconnected challenges:
- Limited employment opportunities
- Dependence on seasonal income
- Youth migration to urban areas
- Underutilized natural and cultural resources
- Environmental degradation
- Lack of inclusive recreation and respite facilities for families with neurodiverse members
At the same time, demand for authentic rural experiences, eco-tourism, agro-tourism, wellness tourism, and nature-based learning continues to grow both nationally and internationally.
Our Solution
REcNU Homestead develops community-based tourism destinations where visitors can experience rural life while directly contributing to local economic development.
The model combines:
Community Tourism
Local residents actively participate as:
- Homestay operators
- Food suppliers
- Tour guides
- Boat operators
- Cultural performers
- Craft producers
- Service providers
Tourism revenue remains within the community, creating a local multiplier effect.
Agro Tourism
Visitors engage directly with agricultural activities:
- Rice cultivation
- Vegetable farming
- Aquaculture
- Poultry rearing
- Beekeeping
- Fruit harvesting
This transforms agriculture into an educational and experiential tourism product while increasing farmers’ income opportunities.
Nature & Conservation Tourism
Activities include:
- Bird watching
- River exploration
- Forest walks
- Biodiversity interpretation
- Environmental education
- Community conservation initiatives
Economic incentives encourage local communities to protect natural resources rather than exploit them unsustainably.
